The centre is currently looking to recruit volunteer counsellors. We have a team
of 21 volunteer counsellors who have experience in a variety of counselling orientations.
Counsellors enquiring about placement opportunities at our centre should be aware
of the following:

The CALM Centre is a charity that has been established since 1988 and is well known
in Harlow and the surrounding areas. The centre currently has a waiting list of approximately
73 people.
• To apply please email or post your CV with a covering letter.
• Two professional references are required e.g college and work.
• At present the centre provides 1 hour of individual supervision and 2 hours of
group supervision per month. Attendance is compulsory.
• Volunteer counsellors are required to take 4 clients
• All clients are assessed by an assessor prior to allocation.
• Counselling for clients is not restricted to a specific number of sessions and
their requirements are reviewed regularly.
• The centre works within the BACP guidelines and is an Accredited Service.
• There is a warden on duty at the Latton Bush Centre between 8am and 10pm so counsellors
can access the CALM Centre for appointments with their clients out of CALM office
hours.
• The centre’s office hours are 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
• The centre currently has free parking facilities and full wheelchair access.
• If you do not already hold an enhanced CRB certificate we will arrange for one
to be undertaken if you are successful in gaining a placement.
