HarlowProud2B were originally known as the LGBT Group (Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual, Transgender) and they formed as a result of a comment made in one of the CALM Centre Steering Group meetings. A member of the steering group said that there was a gap in services for the LGBT community in Harlow and asked if the CALM Centre would be able to provide some support in the early stages of looking for funding and seeing what might be required.

So, the CALM Centre sourced some funding to start a new user-led steering group, the LGBT Group.. This group wanted to do some research and see what kind of services the LGBT community felt was needed.

They have now been meeting for approximately 2 ½  years; during this time they have renamed the group, designed their logo and marketing materials, networked with other LGBT groups in the country, compiled and distributed a questionnaire to see what the local LGBT community wanted, had stalls at various local events, run an Awareness Week, held Drop-In sessions based in the Latton Bush Centre and have generally been very active.
